Removal (Lancer)

  1. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect PCV hose. See Fig 1. Disconnect EGR solenoid valve connector. Disconnect manifold differential pressure sensor connector. Disconnect purge control solenoid valve and throttle position sensor connector. Disconnect idle air control motor and fuel injector connectors.
  2. Disconnect high-pressure fuel hose. Disconnect fuel return hose and vacuum hose. Remove fuel pressure regulator and fuel hose. Remove fuel return pipe.
  3. Remove fuel rail bolts. Using care to not drop any injector, lift fuel rail and injectors from engine. Injectors may be removed after fuel rail is removed from intake manifold. Remove insulators, injectors and grommets.
