Installation (Outlander)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: When installing fuel pressure regulator, DO NOT let engine oil in fuel rail.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW insulators and grommets. Use NEW "O" rings lubricated with one drop of clean engine oil when installing injectors. Install injectors into fuel rail with a twisting motion. DO NOT allow engine oil to enter fuel rail. Ensure injectors rotate smoothly after installation. If not, remove injectors and reinsert it into fuel rail and check again.
  2. When connecting fuel pressure regulator to fuel rail, apply a drop of new engine oil to NEW "O" ring, and insert, being careful not to damage "O" ring. See Figure.
  3. When connecting high-pressure fuel hose to fuel rail, apply a drop of new engine oil to NEW "O" ring, and insert, being careful not to damage "O" ring. See Figure. Check that high-pressure fuel hose turns smoothly. If not, remove hose and reinsert it into fuel rail and check again.
  4. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check for any fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
