Disassembly & Reassembly (Lancer) (With Auto-Cruise Control System)

  1. Remove throttle position sensor. See Fig 1. Remove lever assembly. Remove fast idle air valve and gasket. If any idle speed adjusting screw is removed, basic idle speed will need to be adjusted. See BASIC IDLE SPEED under IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE in ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  2. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. If a vacuum port or passage is clogged, use compressed air to clean it out. If air bypass screw was removed, install NEW "O" ring. Install NEW fast idle air valve gasket. Install throttle position sensor so it is positioned as shown. See Fig 2. Turn throttle position sensor 90 degrees clockwise to set it. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
