Diagnostic Aids

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport, 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 2002 Isuzu Axiom, and 2002 Honda Passport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or a broken wire inside insulation. Inspect harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal-to-wire connection, and damaged harness. If wiring harness appears okay. Disconnect PCM Red 80-pin harness connector E-35. PCM is located at left rear of engine compartment, near air filter housing. Connect DVOM to ground and PCM harness connector E-35 terminal No. 5 (58X reference circuit) and wiggle harness and connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. A change in voltage will indicate area of problem. If DTC cannot be duplicated, check scan tool FAILURE RECORDS to determine mileage since last DTC was set.
