DTC P0118: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit - High Input: Condition
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Suzuki Esteem. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
DTC is set when Engine Control Module (ECM) detects Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor input voltage is 5 volts or more for 5 seconds continuously. Engine coolant temperature low and ECT sensor resistance high. MIL is illuminated when ECM detects malfunction during first drive cycle. Possible causes are:
- Open or short to power in circuits between ECT sensor and ECM.
- ECT sensor malfunction.
- ECM malfunction.
