DTC P0444 Or DTC P0496: Condition

DTC P0444 is set when EVAP canister purge valve output signal is too low. DTC P0496 is set when fuel tank pressure decreases in spite of EVAP canister vent valve and EVAP canister purge valve are closed. MIL is illuminated when ECM (PCM) detects malfunction during 2 consecutive drive cycles. Possible causes are:
- EVAP canister purge valve malfunction.
- EVAP canister purge valve circuit malfunction.
- ECM (PCM) malfunction.
