Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Trooper, 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport, 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 2002 Isuzu Axiom, and 2002 Honda Passport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine cover. Disconnect power brake booster vacuum hose. Disconnect MAP sensor, EVAP solenoid valve, IAC valve, TP sensor, and EGR valve harness connectors. Disconnect ION sensing module harness connectors. Disconnect vacuum hose on EVAP canister VSV and PCV ventilation hose.
  2. On 3.5L, remove ION sensing module. On all engines, remove 4 bolts securing throttle valve to intake manifold. Remove EGR valve nut and bolt, and remove EGR valve. Remove 2 bolts at rear of intake manifold and remove fuel hose bracket. Remove remaining intake manifold nuts and bolts. Remove intake manifold.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
