Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Trooper, 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport, 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, 2002 Isuzu Axiom, and 2002 Honda Passport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) valve harness connector. See Fig 1. Remove hold-down bolts and IAC valve from throttle body.
  2. Using carburetor cleaner, clean IAC valve "O" ring sealing surface, pintle valve seat and air passage.
  3. Before installing IAC valve, inspect IAC valve "O" ring. If problem is found, replace as necessary. When installing new IAC valve, check distance between tip of pintle and mounting flange. If measurement is 1.1" (28 mm) or more, apply finger pressure and retract valve to 1.1" (28 mm). See Fig 2. If measurement is less than specified, install valve. DO NOT push or pull on pintle of old IAC valve, or damage may occur to valve. To install, reverse removal procedure and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
