Removal & Installation (3.5L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Loosen gas cap. Drain fuel tank by removing fuel tank drain plug. Replace drain plug and tightened to specification. ALWAYS replace fuel tank drain plug seal. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Remove right rear tire. Remove right rear fender liner. Remove fuel filler, air breather and EVAP hoses. Remove tank undercover bolts and undercover. See Fig 1.
  3. Remove fuel pump and fuel vapor pressure sensor harness connectors. Disconnect EVAP hoses from top of tank. Disconnect fuel feed and fuel return tubes. Remove fuel tank retaining bolts and lower tank from vehicle.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. After fuel tank is installed. Start engine and observe fuel tank and hoses for any leaks. Repair as necessary.
