Esteem - Transmission Range Sensor (Shift Switch) Circuit Check
- Disconnect connector from cruise control module with ignition switch off.
- Check for proper connection to cruise control module at terminal "E45-9". See Fig 1
.
- If ok, connect ohmmeter between terminal "E45-9" and ground.

- Check for continuity under each condition. Continuity between terminal E45-9 and ground Selector lever at:
- "P" or "N" range: Continuity.
- "R", "D", "2" or "L" range: Infinity.
- Check results satisfactory, transmission range switch circuit is ok.
- If results unsatisfactory, go to next step.
- Disconnect transmission range switch connector.
- Check for proper connection to transmission range switch at disconnected connector terminals.
- If ok, check transmission range switch for operation referring to TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (A/T)
in ADJUSTMENTS
.
- If check results satisfactory, "Black/Red" or "Black/Yellow" circuit is open or short.
- If check results unsatisfactory, adjust or replace.
