Aerio -Transmission Range Sensor (Shift Switch) Circuit Check

  1. Disconnect connector from cruise control module with ignition switch OFF.
  2. Check for proper connection to cruise control module at terminal E52-9.
  3. If OK, connect ohmmeter between terminal E52-9 and ground. See Fig 1 .

  4. Check for continuity under each condition in the following. Transmission range switch circuit specification Selector Lever at:
    • "P" or "N" range: Continuity.
    • "R", "D", "2" or "L" range: Infinity.
  5. If check results are satisfactory transmission range switch is ok.
  6. If check results are unsatisfactory go to the next step.
  7. Disconnect transmission range sensor (shift switch) connector.
  8. Check for proper connection to transmission range sensor (shift switch) at disconnected connector terminals.
  9. If ok, check transmission range sensor (shift switch).
  10. If check results are satisfactory "Black/Red" or "Black/Yellow" circuit is open or short.
  11. If check results are unsatisfactory adjust or replace transmission range sensor (shift switch).
