Test Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport and 2002 Isuzu Rodeo. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedures.

  1. 2

A "NO MIL" condition accompanied by a no-start condition suggests a PCM ignition feed or battery feed circuit.
  2. 9

Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe each of the PCM ground terminals to ensure that a good ground is present. To identify PCM ground terminals, see PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS article.
  3. 12

In this step temporarily substitute a known good relay for the PCM relay. Horn relay also located in fuse/relay box is like PCM relay. Verify horn relay by pressing horn button to ensure horn is operational. If horn relay tests good, install relay to PCM relay position for test purposes.
  4. 17

Vehicle is equipped with a Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). When PCM is replaced, the new PCM must be programmed. See EEPROM PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE  under POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE.
