Diamante (With Traction Control)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If using scan tool, connect scan tool to OBD-II Data Link Connector (DLC) located below instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure. If using ohmmeter, disconnect accelerator pedal position sensor. See Fig 1. Connect an ohmmeter between accelerator pedal position sensor terminals No. 3 (closed throttle position switch) and No. 4 (sensor ground). See Fig 2.
  2. Insert feeler gauge with thickness of .033" (0.85 mm) no more than .118" (3 mm) deep between levers as illustrated. See Fig 3. Inserting feeler gauge more than .118" (3 mm) will result in incorrect adjustment. If using scan tool, turn ignition on and monitor closed throttle switch on/off status. If using ohmmeter, leave ignition off and monitor closed throttle switch continuity. Go to next step.
  3. Loosen accelerator pedal position sensor mounting bolt. Turn accelerator pedal position sensor body fully counterclockwise. See Fig 4. Scan tool should indicate closed throttle position switch is on. Ohmmeter should indicate continuity.
  4. Slowly turn accelerator pedal position sensor body clockwise until point at which scan tool indicates closed throttle position switch is off, or ohmmeter indicates no continuity. Hold accelerator pedal position sensor in this position and tighten mounting bolt.
  5. If using scan tool, select TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. If using voltmeter, connect a test harness set between accelerator pedal position sensor connector which has been disconnected. See Fig 5. Connect voltmeter leads to accelerator pedal position sensor terminals No. 2 (sensor output) and No. 4 (sensor ground). Turn ignition on and go to next step.
  6. Check accelerator pedal position sensor output voltage. Accelerator pedal position sensor output voltage should be 400-1000 millivolts. If accelerator pedal position sensor output voltage is not as specified, check accelerator pedal position sensor and related circuit. If accelerator pedal position sensor output voltage is as specified, remove feeler gauge and turn ignition off.
