DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, engine coolant temperature is at 18-230°F (-8-110°C), fuel tank is 1/4 full or more, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and drive vehicle at 50-56 MPH for 5 minutes. (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0420 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is retrieved, using scan tool, check if catalyst monitoring test has completed. If catalyst monitoring test has completed, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If catalyst monitoring test has not completed, check environmental conditions and repeat DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  .
