DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, engine coolant temperature is 18-230°F (-8-110°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at 35 MPH or more for 20 minutes (throttle valve opening should be kept constant for the last three minutes). Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0496 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If no DTC is retrieved, using scan tool, check if EVAP system monitoring test has completed. If EVAP system monitoring test has completed, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If EVAP system monitoring test has not completed, check environmental conditions and repeat DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  .
