DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, engine coolant temperature is 18-230°F (-8-110°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC, located below left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. see CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Ensure temperature is 77-160°F (25-71°C). Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature and keep engine at idle speed for 5 minutes or more. Drive vehicle at 35 MPH for 3 minutes. Stop vehicle and let engine idle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If same DTC P0116 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  .
