DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C) or more, engine coolant temperature is 18-230°F (-8-110°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC, located below left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  3. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at more than 40 MPH for 5 minutes. Stop vehicle and let engine idle for 1 minute. Drive vehicle again until engine speed reaches 2000-3000 PRM, keep this engine speed for 30 seconds or more (engine speed should be kept constant). Stop vehicle.
  4. Repeat step  3 and stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If same DTC P0121 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  .
