Eclipse, Galant, Lancer & Outlander

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, and 2003 Mitsubishi Galant. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Turn A/C and lights OFF. Inspect and adjust at no load. Warm engine until stabilized at idle. Confirm idle speed is at prescribed RPM. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS under IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE. Stop engine (ignition switch OFF).
Confirm there are no sharp bends in accelerator cable. Check inner cable for correct slack. Standard value is 0.04-0.08" (1-2 mm). If there is too much slack or no slack, go to next step.
Loosen adjusting bolt to release cable. See Fig 1-Fig 3 . Move plate until inner cable play is at standard value, then tighten adjusting bolt. After adjusting check that throttle lever touches stopper.
