Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. If engine system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine system check has not been performed, see and perform A4: ENGINE SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS and go to next step.
  2. Check for intermittent problem referring to INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO-CODES article. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  . If DTC is detected again, go to next step. If DTC is not detected again, problem is intermittent.
  3. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect fuel level sensor connector R01. Check resistance between fuel pump wire R01 terminals No. 4 and No. 3. When fuel tank is full, resistance should be about 10 ohms or less. When fuel tank is empty, resistance should be about 120 ohms. If resistance indicated is close to one of the specified values, substitute known-good ECM (PCM) and recheck. If resistance indicated is not close to one of the specified values, replace fuel level sensor.
