Diagnosis and Repair Procedure

  1. If engine system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine system check has not been performed, see and perform A4: ENGINE SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTS and go to next step.
  2. Remove ECM (PCM) cover. Open fuel filler cap. With ignition switch ON leaving engine OFF, check voltage between ECM (PCM) connector E61 terminals No. 20 and No. 32. See Figure . If voltage is 2.0-2.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go step  4 .
  3. Check ECM (PCM) connector E61 terminals No. 20 and No. 32 for intermittent trouble. If OK, substitute known-good ECM (PCM) and recheck.
  4. Inspect fuel tank pressure sensor referring to FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If fuel tank pressure sensor is in good condition, go to next step. If not, fuel tank pressure sensor is faulty.
  5. Check for faulty Brown/Red, Green/Red, or Grey/Yellow wire. If OK, substitute known-good ECM (PCM) and recheck.
