Diagnosis and Repair Procedure
- If engine system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine system check has not been performed, see and perform A4: ENGINE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS and go to next step.
- Remove ECM (PCM) cover. Open fuel filler cap. With ignition switch ON leaving engine OFF, check voltage between ECM (PCM) connector E61 terminals No. 20 and No. 32. See Figure . If voltage is 2.0-2.5 volt, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, go step 4 .
- Check ECM (PCM) connector E61 terminals No. 20 and No. 32 for intermittent trouble. If OK, substitute known-good ECM (PCM) and recheck.
- Inspect fuel tank pressure sensor referring to FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If fuel tank pressure sensor is in good condition, go to next step. If not, fuel tank pressure sensor is faulty.
- Check for faulty Brown/Red, Green/Red, or Grey/Yellow wire. If OK, substitute known-good ECM (PCM) and recheck.
