Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: Do not disconnect ECM harness connectors, battery cable from battery, ECM ground wire harness from engine or main fuse before confirming diagnostic information (DTC, freeze frame data, etc.) stored in ECM memory. Such disconnection will erase ECM memory.

DTCs can be cleared using a SUZUKI or other OBD-II compatible scan tool connected to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, accessible from driver's side. Disconnecting negative battery cable, Engine Control Module (ECM) connectors, ECM ground wire, or main fuse will also clear DTCs. DTCs will also clear when fault that originally set that DTC is not detected during 40 engine warm-up cycles. A warm-up cycle is when vehicle coolant temperature rises by 72°F (22°C) or reaches 158°F (70°C) after engine has first started.
