DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/4 full, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more, ambient temperature is 14°F (-10°C) or more, and intake air temperature is 158°F (70°C) or less. Ensure no exhaust leaks are present. Go to, next step.
  2. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle for 5 minutes. Using scan tool in DATA LIST mode, record HO2S No. 2 output voltage and short term fuel trim, while driving under normal conditions. Bring vehicle to a complete stop, do not turn ignition off. Drive vehicle at speeds of more than 20 MPH. Bring vehicle to a complete stop. Repeat procedure 4 times. Go to next step.
  3. Drive vehicle at speed of about 50 MPH in 3rd gear (M/T) or 2nd gear (A/T). Release accelerator pedal and allow vehicle to coast for 10 seconds or more. Stop vehicle and allow engine to idle for 2 minute. Using scan tool, check completion status of OXYGEN SENSOR MONITORING TEST in READINESS TESTS mode. If scan tool indicates TEST COMPLETED, confirmation test is completed. Go to, DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If scan tool indicates TEST NOT COMPLETED, go to next step.
  4. Drive vehicle under normal conditions for 10 minute or more (or allow vehicle to idle for 10 minutes or more). Bring vehicle to a complete stop, do not turn ignition off. Confirm test results, go to TEST RESULT CONFIRMATION FLOW  .
