DTC Confirmation Test

Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Ensure fuel tank is 1/4-3/4 full, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more, ambient temperature is 14°F (-10°C) or more, intake air temperature is 158°F (70°C) or less, and engine coolant temperature 158-230°F (70-110°C). Drive vehicle at speeds of 30-40 MPH under all driving conditions (stop and go, high and low load, or rapid acceleration and deceleration) for 12 minutes. Drive vehicle at speeds of 30-40 MPH with throttle steady for 3 more minutes. Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTCs. If any DTC is set or pending, perform appropriate testing procedure. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no DTCs are set, using scan tool select READINESS TESTS mode. Check that EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM MONITORING test has been completed. If READINESS TEST is complete and no DTC is stored, confirmation is complete. Go to, DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  . If READINESS TEST is not completed, visually check EVAP system for defects. If problem is found, repair as necessary and repeat DTC confirmation test.
