Diagnosis & Repair Procedure
- If engine system check has been performed, go to next step. If engine system check has not been performed, go to A4: ENGINE SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Check EVAP canister vent valve for clogging or deterioration. If problem is found, repair or replace as necessary. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
- Check EVAP canister vent valve operation. See appropriate procedure under FUEL EVAPORATION in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If problem is found, go to step 7 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check EVAP canister for damage. See EVAP CANISTER under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If problem is found, replace EVAP canister. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check FTP sensor operation. See FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article. If problem is found, replace FTP sensor. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Substitute a known good ECM, and repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC does not reset, testing is complete.
- Check for short or open in Yellow/Black wire between EVAP canister vent valve harness connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector C21 terminals No. 3. See Figure and WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If no problem is found, substitute a known good ECM, and repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
