Diagnostic Procedure

  1. If air bag diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If air bag diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver-side air bag connector "Q02" located behind steering wheel side cap. See Figure. Connect Driver/Passenger Air Bag Load Tool (09932-75010) to connector "Q02". Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC 24 is displayed, go to next step. If DTC 24 is not displayed, go to step  4.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect passenger-side air bag connector "Q05" located behind glove box. See Figure. Connect Driver/Passenger Air Bag Load Tool (09932-75010) to connector "Q05". Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC 24 is displayed, go to step  5. If DTC 24 is not displayed, replace passenger-side air bag module. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect air bag system wiring harness. Replace wiring harness if damaged. Go to step  9.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver/passenger load tool from harness connectors. Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect driver/passenger load tool to contact coil-to-air bag module connector at steering wheel. Reconnect driver-side air bag connector "Q02". See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Recheck DTC's. If DTC 24 is displayed, replace contact coil. See CONTACT COIL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect air bag system wiring harness. Replace wiring harness if damaged. If DTC 24 is not displayed, replace driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to step  9.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect driver/passenger load tool. Disconnect SDM connector "Q06". See Figure. Measure resistance between SDM connector "O06" terminals No. 10 and 15. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is less than infinite, a short to ground exists in Green wire. Replace wiring harness. Go to step  9.
  6. Measure resistance between SDM connector "Q06" terminals No. 11 and 15. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is less than infinite, a short to ground exists in Green/Red wire. Replace wiring harness. Go to step  9.
  7. Measure resistance between SDM connector "Q06" terminals No. 7 and 15. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is less than infinite, a short to ground exists in Yellow wire. Replace wiring harness. Go to step  9.
  8. Measure resistance between SDM connector "Q06" terminals No. 8 and 15. If resistance is infinite, replace SDM. See SENSING & DIAGNOSTIC MODULE (SDM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is less than infinite, a short to ground exists in Yellow/Red wire. Replace wiring harness. Go to next step.
  9. Reconnect all air bag system components. Clear all air bag system DTC's. Go to AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
