Test A: Abs Warning Light Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition on and observe indicator and warning lights on instrument cluster (combination meter). If other warning lights operate, go to next step. If other warning lights do not operate, check IG (20-amp) fuse located in instrument panel fuse/relay block under left side of instrument panel. Replace fuse if necessary. If fuse is okay, repair open Red/Blue wire between ABS warning light relay and instrument cluster (combination meter) or correct poor connector contact.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 34-pin electrical harness connector from ABS hydraulic unit/control module assembly. Turn ignition on and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light illuminates when ignition is turned on, replace ABS hydraulic unit/control module assembly. If ABS warning light does not illuminate when ignition is turned on, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off and locate ABS warning light relay located in engine compartment fuse/relay block located at left rear corner of engine compartment. Using a jumper wire, connect ABS warning light relay 5-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) to ground. Turn ignition on and observe ABS warning light. If ABS warning light illuminates when ignition is turned on, repair open Black wire. If ABS warning light does not illuminate when ignition is turned on, go to next step.
  4. Remove instrument cluster (combination meter). Check ABS warning light bulb. Replace bulb if necessary. If bulb is okay, check and repair short to ground in Black/Orange wire between ABS warning light relay and ABS hydraulic unit/control module assembly. If Black/Orange wire is okay, replace ABS warning light relay.
