DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Ensure intake air temperature is between 14°F (-10°C) and, vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at speeds of 40 MPH (engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM) or more for 10 minutes with throttle constant. Stop vehicle, and go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC P0400. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC is not set, use scan tool to check completion status of EGR system monitoring test in READINESS TESTS mode. If testing has not been completed, go to next step.
  3. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at speeds of 40 MPH (engine speed at 2500-3000 RPM) or more for 10 minutes or more with throttle constant. Stop vehicle. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC P0400. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC resets, go to DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE  .
