DTC Confirmation Test

Ensure intake air temperature is 6.8°F (-14°C) or more, vehicle is at an altitude of 6650 feet or below, and barometric pressure is 72 kPa or more. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at 40 MPH or higher. Keep this vehicle speed for 5 minutes or more (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Stop vehicle and let it idle for one minute. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0141 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no DTCs are retrieved, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
