Connect SUZUKI scan tool or equivalent to DLC. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at 40 MPH (60 km/h) or more, with engine speed at 2500-3000 RPM. Keep this vehicle speed for 8 minutes or more (throttle valve opening should be kept constant). Release accelerator pedal and keep vehicle coasting in gear with fuel cut for 4 seconds or more. Stop vehicle and let it idle for 6 seconds or more. Using scan tool, check for current or pending DTC. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTC P0137 or P0138 resets, see DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR PROCEDURE . If no DTCs are retrieved, problem is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
