Valve Clearance Adjustment

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove rocker cover. Remove right side undercover (if necessary). Remove necessary items to view "V" mark on crankshaft. Rotate crankshaft until "V" mark of crankshaft pulley aligns with "0" (zero) mark on timing belt cover. Cylinder No. 1 should be on compression stroke.
  2. Using thickness gauge, measure clearance between cam-riding rocker arm face and camshaft lobe. Check valve clearance at positions No. 1, 2, 5 and 7. See Fig 1. Indicated rocker arms should be off of camshaft lobes.
  3. Turn crankshaft clockwise one complete revolution (360 degrees). Check valve clearance at positions No. 3, 4, 6 and 8. See Fig 1. Ensure clearance is within specification. See VALVE CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  4. Using Tappet Adjuster Wrench (09917-18210), adjust valve clearance as necessary. After adjusting clearance, tighten adjusting screw lock nut to 106 INCH lbs. (12 N.m). Recheck clearance.
