Cruise Main Switch, Coast/Set, Resume/ACCEL & Cancel Switch Circuit Check
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CC ECU harness connector. With cruise control switch in appropriate switch position, measure resistance between CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 8 (Light Green/Red wire on Esteem; Light Green wire on all others) and terminal No. 5 (Blue wire on Esteem; Black/Yellow wire on all others). See Figure . See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ASSEMBLY RESISTANCE table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, go to step 3 .
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 8 (Light Green/Red wire on Esteem; Light Green wire on all others). With cruise control main switch off, reading should be about zero volts. With cruise control main switch on, reading should be 10-14 volts. If readings are as specified, cruise control switch circuit is okay. If either reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Check cruise control main switch. See CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary. If cruise control main switch tests okay, go to next step.
- Check COAST/SET, RESUME/ACCEL and CANCEL switch operation. See COAST/SET, RESUME/ACCEL & CANCEL SWITCH ASSEMBLY under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary. On Esteem, if switch operation is okay, check Black/Yellow wire and Light Green wire between multifunction switch and CC ECU for open or shorted condition. On all others, if switch operation is okay, check Blue wire and Light Green/Red wire between multifunction switch and CC ECU for open or shorted condition. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . On all models, repair open or short in wiring as necessary. After repairs, check cruise control switch operation.
