Torque Converter: Installation
NOTE:
DO NOT flush the torque converter before installation. Only drain as much fluid as possible.
- Install the torque converter to the input shaft, being careful not to damage the oil pump body fluid seal.
- Measure the distance between the outer edge of the transmission case housing and the torque converter flange nut:
- Place a straightedge across the housing. See Fig 1 .
- Using the vernier calipers, measure torque converter depth. See TORQUE CONVERTER INSTALLED DEPTH SPECIFICATIONS table.
- If the distance is not within the specification, remove and reinstall.
- Inspect the torque converter for smooth rotation.
- Apply grease to the converter pilot cup.
