Torque Converter: Inspection
- Replace the torque converter if any of the following conditions exist:
- Pump damage.
- Metal particles found after flushing the cooler and the cooler pipes.
- External leaks in the hub weld area.
- Converter pilot cup damage or poor fit in the crankshaft.
- Converter hub damage or scoring.
- Internal stator damage.
- Engine coolant contamination.
- DO NOT replace the torque converter if the following conditions exist:
- The fluid has an odor or is discolored, but with no metal particles.
- No external damage.
- Converter bolt thread damage.
