Torque Converter: Removal
NOTE:
DO NOT use air powered tools in order to disassemble or assemble any vehicle component. Bolt torques are vital to diagnosis. You can detect bolt torques only when using hand tools. Improper bolt torques can contribute to vehicle repair problems.

- Remove the torque converter.
- Remove the torque converter housing bolts. See Fig 1 .
- Install the Holding Fixture, onto the transmission case. See Fig 2
.WARNING: To reduce the possibility of personal injury or transmission damage, make sure when following the next step that all bolts for the Holding Fixture are installed and tightened to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the transmission with the Holding Fixture into the Holding Fixture Base. Remove the fluid level indicator with the fluid filler tube.
- Remove the vent hose clamp from the vent elbow at the top of the transmission case. Remove the vent hose. Drain the transmission fluid.
