Rear Adapter Case, Vehicle Speed Sensor: Removal

1. Remove the following components from the rear adapter case:
   • The VSS bolt.
   • The VSS. See Fig 1 .
2. Remove the following rear adapter case components from the transmission case:
   • The bolts.
   • The case.
   • The gasket.
3. Remove the cooler lines and remove the fittings. See Fig 2 . Remove the following components from the rear output shaft:
   • The VSS snap ring. See Fig 3 or Fig 4 .
   • Drive gear, if equipped.
   • Steel ball and spacer, if equipped.
   • The VSS rotor.
   • The key-way.
   • The rear cover plate and screws.
