Planetary Gears & Output Shaft: Disassembly

  1. Remove the front planetary gear assembly from the output shaft assembly. See Fig 1 .
  2. Remove the following components from the front planetary gear:
    • The rear planetary thrust washer. See Fig 2 .
    • Retainer plate.
    • Clutch discs.
    • Clutch plates.
  3. Remove the reverse brake reaction plate from the front planetary gear. See Fig 3 .
  4. Remove the following components from the front planetary gear. See Fig 4 .
    • Snap Ring
    • One-Way Clutch
    • One-Way Clutch Thrust Washer
  5. Compress the front planetary gear snap ring while removing the following components. See Fig 5 .
    • Front Planetary Ring Gear
    • Thrust Bearing
    • Rear Planetary Race
  6. Remove the following components from the rear planetary gear:
    • The rear planetary thrust washer. See Fig 6 .
    • The rear planetary gear.
    • The rear planetary sun gear.
  7. Using a screwdriver, remove the inner shaft spiral snap ring. See Fig 7 . Separate the inner shaft from the rear planetary ring gear. Remove the thrust bearing assembly from the rear planetary ring gear.
