Overdrive - Planetary Gear Side: Reassembly
NOTE:
Clutch discs should be soaked in ATF for 15 minutes prior to installation. Lubricate all parts with ATF. Coat thrust bearings and races with Transjel(R) Transmission Assembly Lubricant or petroleum jelly.

NOTE:
When installing the one-way clutch snap ring, DO NOT align the snap ring opening with the lug on the clutch piston spring retainer.
- Refer to graphic for exploded view of Overdrive (OD) planetary gear set. See Fig 1
. Install the planetary thrust washer with the oil groove facing the front. See Fig 2
. Install the one-way clutch outer bearing race with the flange facing the front. Apply Transjel(R) to the following components:
- The thrust bearing.
- The planetary thrust washer.
- Install the thrust bearing and the planetary thrust washer into the OD planetary gear. Install the one-way clutch to the OD planetary gear. Install the OD planetary gear snap ring. See Fig 3 .
- Install NEW "O" Rings to the inner and outer OD clutch pistons. Install the OD clutch piston to the OD clutch drum. Install the OD clutch piston return springs and retainer. See Fig 3 .
- Compress the OD clutch piston using Clutch Spring Compressor, while installing the OD clutch piston snap ring. See Figure . DO NOT align snap ring gap with retainer claw.
- Install the following components to the OD clutch drum:
- The clutch disc.
- The backing plate.
- The cushion plate. See Fig 4 .
- The snap ring.
- The brake hub.
- Install the brake hub snap ring . Recheck OD clutch piston stroke. See 2 .
- Install the O/D planetary gear assembly and thrust washer. Install the thrust bearing race and thrust bearing onto the planetary gear assembly.
