Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P1500 is set, go to next step. If DTC P1500 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and PCM 26-pin connector C51-3 terminal No. 18 (Black/Yellow wire) while cranking engine. See Figure. Voltages should be 6-14 volts. After engine starts, voltage should drop to 0-1 volts. If voltages are not as specified, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between starter, transmission range switch (A/T) or clutch pedal position switch (M/T) and PCM 26-pin connector C51-3. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Go to next step.
  3. If voltages are as specified, check for poor terminal contact at PCM 26-pin connector C51-3. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary. If terminal contact is okay, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If intermittent problem is not found, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
