DTC Confirmation Test

  1. Ensure when engine is first started intake air temperature is 18-140°F (-8-60°C) and engine coolant temperature is 18-203°F (-8-95°C). Ensure intake air temperature is 18°F (-8°C), engine coolant temperature is 110°F (230°C), vehicle is at an altitude of 8000 feet or below, fuel tank level is 1/4 or more full, and barometric pressure is 75 kPa or more. Turn ignition off, connect scan tool and turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Drive vehicle at speeds of 30-40 MPH for 3 minutes or more. Check for DTCs P0171 and P0172. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
