Removal (Right Side)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove right front wheel. Drain transaxle fluid. Remove axle shaft drive flange (4WD). Remove drive shaft circlip and spindle thrust washer from axle shaft. See Figure .
  2. Remove mounting bolts from brake caliper. Remove caliper from steering knuckle, and wire aside. If equipped with ABS, remove harness clamp bolt and remove front wheel speed sensor from steering knuckle. Remove brake disc.
  3. Remove stabilizer ball joint nut. Remove castle nut from tie rod end. Remove stud nut from steering knuckle. Support lower suspension arm with a jack. Remove lower strut bracket bolts. Lower jack and disconnect knuckle from lower suspension control arm.
  4. Pull outer CV joint from hub. Use large screwdrivers or pry bars to pry right inner CV joint from differential. See Fig 1 . Remove axle from vehicle.
