Vehicle Speed Sensor Circuit Check: Esteem

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CC ECU harness connector. Check for poor connection at CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 1 (Violet wire). See Figure . Repair as necessary. If connection is okay, go to next step.
  2. Connect DVOM between CC ECU terminal No. 1 (Violet wire) and ground. Raise and support vehicle. Rotate left front wheel with right front wheel blocked. DVOM reading should fluctuate between continuity and no continuity a few times during one full wheel revolution. If reading is as specified, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit is okay. If reading is not as specified, check VSS. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace VSS as necessary. If VSS tests okay, repair open or short in Violet wire to VSS. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
