Removal & Installation (Grand Vitara)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Relieve fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  . Disconnect negative battery cable. Relieve cooling system pressure and drain engine coolant so level is below throttle body. Remove strut tower bar. Disconnect accelerator cable and kickdown cable (A/T) from throttle body. See Fig 1 .
  2. Disconnect coolant hose from throttle body. Remove intake air pipe. Remove surge tank pipe. Disconnect all harness connectors from sensors attached to throttle body. Label and disconnect all vacuum hoses from throttle body. Remove EGR pipe at back of engine. See Fig 2 . Remove throttle body and intake collector from intake manifold.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Torque throttle body mounting bolts to 16.5 Ft. Lbs (23 Nm). After installing accelerator cable, ensure cable has correct free play. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. Refill coolant.
