Steering Wheel: Installation

  1. Center contact coil, if necessary. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  2. While referencing alignment marks, install steering wheel on steering shaft with 2 contact coil lugs fitting into grooves on back of steering wheel. See Figure. Tighten steering wheel nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten air bag module bolts to specification.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Turn ignition on and ensure AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times (6 times on Esteem and XL7), and then turns off.
