DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Malfunction (A/T): Condition
DTC is set when Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not detect VSS input voltage with vehicle decelerating at engine speed lower than 4000 RPM for more than 4 seconds. This is a continuous monitor. MIL is illuminated when PCM detects malfunction during 2 consecutive drive cycles. Possible causes are:
- Short or open circuit between speedometer and PCM.
- VSS malfunction.
- Dirty or improperly installed VSS.
- Speedometer driven gear malfunction.
