Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove console. Disconnect and remove radio (if equipped).
  2. Disconnect and remove cigarette lighter (if equipped). Pull out ashtray and loosen ashtray plate screws. Disconnect wires and cables from heater. Remove steering column. Disconnect speedometer.
  3. Remove hood release lever and front pillar trim. Disconnect wires from instrument panel. Remove 6 bolts from instrument panel brace. Remove instrument panel and instrument panel brace together. To install, reverse removal procedure.
