Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If DTC P0135 is set, go to next step. If DTC P0135 is not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  2. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and on. Backprobing, measure voltage between ground and PCM 16-pin harness connector C22 terminal No. 7 (Pink/Black wire). See Figure. Reading should be more than 10 volts. Start engine and allow it to idle. Reading should be less than 1.9 volts. If readings are not as specified, go to next step. If readings are as specified, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HO2S No. 1 connector. Check for poor terminal contact at HO2S No. 1 connector. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, measure resistance between HO2S No. 1 terminal No. 3 (Pink/Black wire) and No. 4 (Black/White wire). If resistance is 11.7-14.3 ohms at about 68°F (20°C), go to next step. If resistance is not 11.7-14.3 ohms at about 68°F (20°C), replace HO2S No. 1 and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
  4. Disconnect PCM 16-pin connector C22. Check for poor terminal contact at PCM 16-pin connector C22. If poor terminal contact is found, repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If terminal contact is okay, check for open or short to ground in Pink/Black wire between HO2S No. 1 and PCM 16-pin connector C22 terminal No. 7. See Figure. Repair as necessary and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If wire is okay, replace PCM and go to DTC CONFIRMATION TEST .
