Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

All models are equipped with 2-speed front wiper system and are available with optional intermittent feature. On all models, intermittent mode (if equipped) has variable delay. Washer system uses a reservoir-mounted electric pump located in the engine compartment (Grand Vitara, Vitara and XL7) or behind shield in left front fender area (Esteem and Swift).

A one-speed rear wiper/washer system is optional on all models. Rear wiper/washer switch is located on instrument panel, to right of steering column. Rear wiper/washer switch contains 2 separate switches. Top switch controls wiper motor and bottom switch controls washer pump. Push top switch to turn on rear wiper motor. Push switch again to turn rear wiper motor off. Hold bottom switch in to operate rear washer. Release bottom switch to turn off rear washer operation.
