Transmission Range Switch: Installation
- Shift manual shift lever and shift selector lever to "N" range. See Fig 1
.
- Using flat tip screwdriver, turn transmission range switch joint clockwise or counterclockwise and check that a "click" is heard from joint at this position. See Fig 2
.
- After installing transmission range switch to manual shift shaft, move transmission range switch by hand in arrow direction. Stop at the position where a "click" from joint is heard or felt by hand and secure it. See Fig 3
.
- Connect coupler and clamp wire harness.
- Upon completion of transmission range switch installation, check for its proper installation according to the following.
- Apply parking brake and block vehicle wheels.
- With selector lever shifted to "P" range, turn starter switch ON and check that this causes starting motor to operate.
- Shift selector lever from "P" to "N" range, turn starter switch ON and check that this causes starting motor to operate.
- Shift selector lever from "N", "L" range and back to "N" range, turn starter switch ON and check that this causes starting motor to operate.
- Shift selector lever from "N", "P" range and check starting motor for operation as in step d
.
- Check to ensure that in any range other that "P" and "N", starting motor doesn't operate even when starter switch turned ON.
- Turn ignition switch ON (without starting engine) and shift selector lever to "R" range. Check that back up lights illuminates.
- If any check result was unsatisfactory in step 5
, check and reinstall transmission range switch.
