Diagnosis & Repair Procedure

  1. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs are displayed, go to next step. If any DTCs are displayed, see appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS .
  2. Start engine. Retrieve DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If any DTCs are displayed, see appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS . Go to next step.
  3. If no DTCs are displayed, turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 26-pin connector C21. Turn ignition on. If MIL comes on, repair short to ground in Purple/Yellow wire between PCM 26-pin harness connector C21 terminal No. 17 and instrument cluster 16-pin connector G15 terminal No. 13. See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If MIL does not come on, replace PCM. Retest system.
