Transmission Range Switch Circuit Check (A/T)
NOTE:
Transmission Range (TR) switch may also be referred to as Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch or shift switch.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect CC ECU harness connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between ground and CC ECU harness connector terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire). See Figure . With shift lever in Park or Neutral position, continuity should exist. With shift lever in any forward/reverse gear, continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, circuit is okay. If continuity is not as specified, go to next step.
- Check for poor connection, open or short in Black/Red wire between Transmission Range (TR) switch and CC ECU. Check for poor connection, open or short in Black/Yellow wire between TR switch and starter. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary. If wiring and harness connectors are okay, replace or adjust TR switch as necessary. See TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (A/T) under ADJUSTMENTS.
